1. Turn on Developer Mode

Settings → About device → tap the version row 7 times:

Oppo / Realme: tap “Version” 7×
Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO: tap “MIUI version” 7×
Samsung / stock: tap “Build number” 7×

You’ll see “You are now a developer!”

2. Turn on the debugging switches

Settings → Additional settings → Developer options. Turn ON:

USB debugging — required.
Wireless debugging — required (connects over Wi-Fi, no cable).
Install via USB — lets the helper apps install.

Redmi / Xiaomi phones:

A SIM card must be inserted.
To turn ON Install via USB you must create / sign into a Xiaomi (Mi) account first, then flip the toggle.
Also turn ON USB debugging (Security settings) — this allows simulating input (taps/scrolls). Without it the app opens but won't scroll. (Also needs the Mi account.)
If you see Turn on MIUI optimization, turn it OFF.
When it installs, the phone shows a prompt to allow the install — approve it (it asks about 3 times, once per helper app; tap Install / Allow each time).

3. Install & set up Tailscale on the phone

Install Tailscale from the Google Play Store and open it. We use a private (Headscale) server, so connect with the custom login server + auth key:

Before signing in, tap the ⋮ (three-dot) menu or Settings (depends on app version).
Select Use custom login server (a.k.a. Custom control server).
Enter the Headscale server URL (domain), e.g. https://headscale.yourdomain.com, and save.
Enter the auth key you were given, then Sign in / Add account.
Toggle Tailscale Connected. The phone now has a private 100.x.x.x address. Keep it connected.

You need both: the server domain (custom login server) and the auth key.

4. Open Wireless debugging on the phone

“Wireless debugging” is what lets the server control the phone over the network instead of a USB cable. Go to Developer options → Wireless debugging and tap the row title (not just the on/off switch) to open its own screen.

On that screen you’ll see an IP address & Port line that looks like 192.168.1.20:39145. That number after the colon — 39145 in this example — is the connect port. Note it down.

Which IP do I use? The phone shows its local Wi-Fi IP (192.168.x.x), but the server reaches the phone over Tailscale — so you use the phone’s Tailscale IP (open the Tailscale app to see it, e.g. 100.64.0.61) with that same port. Final answer looks like: 100.64.0.61:39145.

⚠️ This port changes every time the phone restarts or you toggle Wireless debugging off/on. If a phone stops connecting later, just come back to this screen, read the new port, and update it in the dashboard (🔌 Reconnect).

5. Add the phone in the dashboard

In the “Connect your phone” form on the left, fill in:

Phone name — any label you’ll recognise, e.g. office.
Device ip:port — the Tailscale ip:port from step 4 (e.g. 100.64.0.61:39145).
Account handle — optional, just the @username for your own reference.
Timezone — where the phone “lives”, so it acts at natural local hours.

Click + Connect & add. The server now tries to reach the phone:

✅ It connects → the phone appears in the table. Skip to step 7.
🔗 A yellow “This phone is not paired yet” panel appears → the server and phone have never introduced themselves. That’s expected the first time — go to step 6.

6. Pair the phone (first time only) — explained

What is pairing? A one-time handshake where the phone and server exchange a secret so the phone trusts this server. You do it once; after that the phone reconnects automatically. It’s separate from the normal connect, and it uses a different, temporary port plus a 6-digit code.

On the phone: on the Wireless debugging screen, tap “Pair device with pairing code”. A popup appears showing:

a pairing code — 6 digits, e.g. 418362
an IP address & port — e.g. 192.168.1.20:37021. Note this port (37021) is NOT the same as the connect port from step 4 — it’s a fresh one just for pairing, and it disappears when you close the popup.

In the dashboard’s yellow panel, type:

pairing ip:port → the phone’s Tailscale IP + the pairing port (e.g. 100.64.0.61:37021) — Tailscale IP, pairing port.
6-digit code → the code from the popup.

Click Pair & connect. You’ll see ✓ paired — connecting…, then the phone joins the table. Done — you never pair this phone again (unless it’s reset or you “Forget” this server under the phone’s paired-devices list).

💡 Tip: the pairing code expires in a minute or two. If it fails, reopen “Pair device with pairing code” on the phone for a fresh code + port and try again.

7. Start browsing

Click Open › on the phone → pick the 📸 Instagram or 💼 LinkedIn column. First, what a session is: open the app → scroll the feed human-paced for a while → close the app → gap → next session. A day has several sessions at random times.

Starts a session immediately — opens Instagram and scrolls right away.
When that session ends it does not stop — it closes the app and waits for the next planned session, runs it, waits, runs the next… all day.
Keeps looping (session → wait → session → …) until you press Stop.

▶ Start Auto Schedule

Does not browse right away — it plans the day and waits for the next scheduled time (you'll see [wait] N min until 1:31 PM), then runs that session, waits, runs the next, etc.
Also loops all day until Stop.

↻ Resume — continues the last session from where it stopped. ■ Stop ends everything.

ℹ️ Instagram and LinkedIn each have their own column, but one app runs at a time per phone — starting one disables the other until you stop it.

✅ Check it’s working

Table shows adb connected (green).
Instagram is installed + logged in on the phone.
After ⚡ Start Browse Now: log shows “opening Instagram…” then scrolls with varying delays.
Look at the phone — it’s actually scrolling on its own.
No red session_failed or HALT lines.

🛠 Troubleshooting

Times out / not connected: Tailscale connected on phone AND server? Rebooted? Port changed — get the new one and use 🔌 Reconnect.
Pair fails: use the pairing port (not the connect port); the code expires fast — get a fresh one.
session_failed right after Start: on the phone turn ON Install via USB + Disable permission monitoring / USB debugging (Security settings), then Start again.
App opens but won't scroll (log shows injectEventSync … failed): the phone is blocking simulated input — turn ON USB debugging (Security settings) (MIUI, needs Mi account), then Start again.
Nothing happens for a while: normal — the schedule has waiting gaps and rest days. The log shows “[wait] N min until HH:MM”.
